Night of the Living Dead (1968) & Day of the Dead (1985) w/ Jamie Peck [Trailer]

On this special crossover episode Jamie is joined by Jamie Peck (@jamie_elizabeth) of the podcast Party Girls to discuss two cult classic zombie movies from the father of the genre, George A. Romero: "Night of the Living Dead" (1968) and "Day of the Dead" (1985). In these two spine-chilling films, the left-leaning director interrogates racism, the military industrial complex, and American society writ large, making for politically interesting viewing.

[00:00:00] They were already dead. Let the zombie have a snack.

[00:00:03] What? Jamie, come on. Come on.

[00:00:07] What? Were they going to bury the remains in the proper way? No, it's zombie world. He's trying to figure some shit out.

[00:00:17] Only if they were organ donors. Only if they were organ donors would it be okay.

[00:00:22] Okay, well, maybe they were. We don't know. The movie doesn't tell you. I don't know. I've got a soft spot for Bub.

[00:00:29] I think it's fine. Like if I die in my apartment and I'm not using my body, I totally want my cats to eat me.

[00:00:37] I think that would be proper. I think I don't want to deny them something that they want just because it's like uncouth or whatever.

[00:00:46] You know, in this film, they talk about the most horrible thing is being eaten by a zombie.

[00:00:52] When you're still alive. When you're still alive.

[00:00:54] Like that's horrible if you're still alive, but if you're dead, like who gives a shit? I don't know.

[00:00:59] We can agree to disagree on that. Personally, I would not want to be fed to a zombie. That's just that's just my take.

[00:01:06] Right. Well, I like I would even take a Hannibal Lecter of Hannibal Hannibal Lecter. See, he's going to appreciate the meal. He's going to season you up nice. You know, he's going to glaze you. All right.

[00:01:16] Serve you with the proper wine. The zombie, they just rip through you. It is each of however you come.

[00:01:22] I think Bob appreciates it more than the other zombies. Yes, he would.

[00:01:26] A more refined palette. Yes.

[00:01:28] You know, he's getting smarter every day.
