[00:03:07] Working title. like it is crazy how important this movie is to me. You know, I never, I actually, this is the first fast movie I watched was Fast Five, because I just never got into the series at first, because I thought it was like cheesy and corny. I was like, oh man, it's not that cool. It's kind of corny.

[00:04:21] I've learned better since then obviously, obviously.

[00:04:25] And Fast Five was the one that kind of like okay guys come on. Let's let's let's crash some real cars

[00:05:46] Okay, still a good movie. I still love it which I did go back to it's like People don't realize that movies just used to be like cool like like it was supposed to be about like cool Like kind of badass guys like doing cool kind of badass stuff It wasn't the wing the nod the jokes a mile a minute where everybody's like cracking jokes and kind of laughing

[00:07:04] Winking at the camera like this is movie takes its world pretty seriously

[00:08:23] It's like they're on the street. They down their their nose at, but these these fucking movies take themselves so seriously that like it's that's a way of being funny too. Yes. Yeah, we talked about this with the neither cut as well. Jack always like like to point out there trying to help. They're not out there like trying to help the world. They're out there trying to get money so that they can get away from the government in a way that they won't be able to come and find them. Yeah, let's talk a little bit about the fast series as a whole. Cause it's such an interesting,

[00:09:42] see, it probably, it might be one of the more interesting

[00:09:44] film series that exists.

[00:09:47] Cause first of all, there's 10 of them But I think they're doing that because people make fun of the movies for being too big. Uh, like I think that's what's really good about this too is that like, yeah, it kind of starts out like a little mopey, but it like it picks up really fucking fast.

[00:11:02] And by the end, you're like, I don't remember when this movie wasn't going crazy.

[00:11:07] Yeah.

[00:12:06] If you will with this outlaw guy and they they have this chemistry and this charisma together

[00:12:10] That like it doesn't like the plot doesn't matter We just want to see them hanging out and by the time we get the fast five

[00:12:13] It's like Brian is just straight up like a master criminal now. I still have a cop at all

[00:12:20] Yeah, I also like about these these movies that like there isn't source material

[00:13:25] stars aside from a cameo. There was an issue with Vin Diesel didn't come back for one or two of them and they just weren't really sure about where the franchise was going to go

[00:13:31] until we get to this one where it's just like they got it together. We got a family,

[00:13:37] we got a crew and now we're going to do fucking super crimes. Do the right thing. He's got that guy trying to live and take care of his family. It doesn't really care about anything else. I really like that. I think it changed. I mean, failure the few years is just straight up saving the world by that point. Yeah, I don't know if F nine is, but I like the outlaw shit. I'd like that. There's just stealing stuff. I do too. I really wish they would have stuck with the kind of outlaw stuff, but I just think that like,

[00:16:03] binge flick with the Jason state them action that's fine like it's just a kind of a back and forth action movie you could you can split up the heisting with one of those where it's

[00:16:08] one is just like someone from our past is trying to give us and we have to fight for our our

[00:16:12] lives but every other one at least should be about pulling off a job.

[00:16:18] Right and there's also no like there's no real lines anyway between good guy and bad to kill anyone. But we see already the kind of escalation. This is the second truck that's been driven into another vehicle so far in the movie. This that was the climax of the of the second movie when they drive the fucking car onto the boat. I remember watching that

[00:17:43] the first time I watched I was like, Oh, that's kind if it's non-sexual. You can get and you have a limited amount of swear words that you can use. You get one fuck, I think. Yeah, you get one fuck. No. Yeah, I think there was recently a movie where they used the one fuck and everybody's like, oh my God, they used the fuck.

[00:19:00] It's like, okay, calm down a little.

[00:19:06] Good stuff so far.

[00:19:07] Intense, I think it's PS two era where it's not a fast game, but it's like a game where you're like your car jack stuff by jumping from car to car and it's really one of the most fun things in a video game to jump from car to car, but with like a diving kick and then

[00:20:21] disarm the guy and start driving the other car.

[00:20:24] They could make a really good video game out of the fast series. Oh, don't say that. Oh, he fucked up then. He fucked up. Oh, he double fucked up. He'll even know. He'll even know about Paul Walker. He'll even know. He also looks like a game show host. Like the bad guy in this looks straight up like a game show host or like a telenovella star.

[00:21:43] This is telenovella. Yes. This is so incredible. Like they're like their international features now and like oh shit they're fucked now He's a rote chase. That wasn't a car chase. But it is one that I've heard people be like, oh, that car chase and that was great. But I just don't think the Marvel movies don't do any of the work of being an action thing. Well, at all. Yeah.

[00:24:24] Yeah, he's given me the muh I think I like the rock more outside of wrestling than I did inside see it. I also think Dave Batista is pretty good But I don't think he's done enough yet. He hasn't gotten the roles that really show him Off I think I think the rock has gotten a couple iconic roles including this one As house with Batista just doesn't have that like everybody praises performance in Blade 1 in 2049

[00:28:12] people out doing like war type stuff. So that I'm into. Okay, the rocks filmography isn't nearly as impressive, but I did like central intelligence. Those movies are good with Kevin Hart. And, uh,

[00:28:21] you know, I can't say Baywatch was bad. It just, you know, wasn't special.

[00:29:23] Oh, yeah, he's very he's a very funny guy. I remember the DNA

[00:29:35] Videos vignettes are so funny still funny. They're actually funny now without being problematic actually they hold up better than the rocks promos

[00:29:45] like if you are and not anymore. The current time. Yeah, and current time. He was supposed to be, he was supposed to have a match he was working up to at one point. They were going to do a match, I believe Vin Diesel versus the rock with somebody. I'll try to find that.

[00:31:00] I would be shocked if there wasn't at least a rumor that Vin Diesel was going to do a

[00:31:04] match with the rock. He does do a lot of stuff that would be considered low culture But you are listening to a podcast with two guys that just relish in low culture But he was also Yeah, he can act he's been these we can actually can't act I know he hasn't done a lot of it lately, but he can act he's done some good shit before especially earlier

They have a very good mix of all, you know, and gender, very good gender mix as well in general. Like I really like this. And another comment we got was that, you know, every time a fast movie comes out, the articles

[00:41:41] are usually about, isn't it weird CGI so it's like watching a cartoon. They're winking at me constantly.

[00:43:02] Like, oh, isn't it silly that we're like me and that like, he's like, maybe but it feels like. Yeah. I've never seen anything

[00:47:02] like it. Like you go back and watch Tokyo Drift now they actually have different personality different desires and it's like yeah, yeah

Because like this feels like it could have been like if you want to spin off, if you want to do a cop's version of Faz and Fears just have think ever watching in their matches. Oh, you never watched the I mean, because they did like three WrestleMania main events, I believe during I think one of them was like during the punk run when when punk was the champion, but he didn't get to wrestle in the man. I think there is, you know, I think people, we know that there's a real life food between the rock and then and there's all this talk about how the fight, they were like working the fight, like wrestlers like, I can't let you get that move on me. If you get that move on me, I got like get my heat back. They were actually like doing that shit on the set of the field, which I think is fair.

[01:16:21] If you're at the start, you do have to think about the sippa. Oh, here we go. This is one be like I'll be seeing you to cop. Damn that's bad. Ass dude. They do not like the pigs in this one. I don't know why they had the but the but this movie has so much success. They like had to have the rock in the next one and the next one and then they all though have to all be friends but by the end. I always tell my wife that Vin Diesel sexy and then she gets all like, no, he's not crying and I'm like, he's sexy to me. I mean, that's the kind of guy I would be into if I were either gay or woman. the like it, just seeing them get better and better at it. It's just hard to do. Even though there's no way to mall shirt is incredible. I actually think the villains are more fashionable appear more

[01:27:02] fashionable than the hero. They are that used to be a thing the I think too is better, but I don't think you can go wrong with one or two. I think those are perfect action movies too. And that like they're funny. They made sure there's enough destruction and fighting and all of that stuff in it. But like at its core, it's just dudes saying funny stuff.

It's about a guy that has to fight 10 guys in a boxing match. Oh Like a gauntlet match, okay

[01:33:43] It is a gauntlet match,. I mean, it's so much better than anything they've done in Marvel period at all. And DC isn't even that long a fight, but

[01:35:06] did in the same way you would think of a five star wrestling match like they did so much there And there was so much story told just in that that gets done here. It's so good. They only because he made eyes at this cop. He was able to get

[01:37:45] a this like very much a rack I admit like those just means that and like oh fuck the rock is dead But like they hate ray as this guy's so much that don't yeah his ass

If there were so many dead bodies there too, Nico should show up and be like, you left my father to die while you saved a cop's life. You're no outlaw. Don't fucking rocks cuz he can do yes That's how righteous to do it and see he's a fucking he's a Vic Mackey He's a Vic Maggie's not like trying their rest this guy he wants to murder him

[01:46:44] Imagine I can't imagine cuz dizzy yeah, like did you previous stuff? But the problem with that is always so generic because it's not based in plot

[01:46:48] This is like based entirely in the plot of the movie like the previous stuff is before you have a plot

[01:46:55] You just have a fight in some open field you have a fight a big airport and you just show the guys moving around

[01:47:02] I mean why would you fucking do that like I guess if it's just like that's a real hard rock radio kind of vibe to him in his movies. Oh, that was fucking sweet. And now you got the bike cops. They're. And this is one of the few things, I think, in modern memory where the movies.

[01:49:25] Coming up with what this was going to be that movie nobody has a really good

[01:49:31] Makes me feel that way with Bob Odenkirk. It just seems like they had so much fun Yeah, I like when you see the artistry in the stunts in the fights like the real like care

[01:49:36] But it like from the hand and there's so many style different types of stunts

[01:49:41] This is like you said this is not like a disaster film we can break with this. Well, I mean, and when the cars racket looks so good, that's something they've gotten away from. Come on that be that. Like, no, like make added a little bit of physics there. Have it feel solid. Have it feel hard? Well, the scene that they do with, oh, I love this. I love this.

[01:52:23] I feel like most movies would just picked up here as far as the scene goes.

[01:52:25] Yeah. You really don't know. I really didn't know what was going to happen. I love this. I mean, this is so much fun. I think that's something that you just don't get.

[01:53:42] I mean, you get like these at now. Yeah. I think the villain in this is so good too. Like you really don't see a lot of good villain.

[01:55:04] There's no redeeming value to it.

[01:55:06] That was 100,000% dead. You came back. We ride together. We died together. Who do you think we're going to fight? Down in Brian? Or the bad boys?

Yeah, they earn this. Yeah, I think I read one of the responses to the tweet where you ask people for questions that I really liked was that

[02:01:22] You would just start over a new young team, which is kind of what Tokyo Drift was, you

[02:01:35] Part of it is that like Vin Diesel's not a super handsome guy, a super-convectionally

[02:01:41] attractive kind of guy.

[02:01:43] And like, I think that's something that are the big stars and some of these big franchises. And I'm like, you're too good looking to like have anything bad happen in your life.
